Rim SIP MK II design from SIP PERFORMANCE for all Modern Vespa GTS and many modern Primavera and Sprint models with street legal front.
The first real lightweight rim on the Modern Vespa market comes from SIP PERFORMANCE! In collaboration with a professional from the rim development, we have managed to reduce the weight by almost a third compared to the original part. Nevertheless, the rim meets both national and international strength and durability standards

The rim MK II marks a technological milestone among the rims for Modern Vespas. An uncompromising and extremely elaborate development process was necessary to bring this rim with a minimum weight compared to competitors to the market. Two-wheelers equipped with our rim MK II feel noticeably more agile and react more precisely on the chassis side due to the lower unsprung masses.
Visually, the slim five double spokes signal that neither material nor installation space has been wasted. For the first time compared to any SIP or Piaggio design, the center of the rim has been made deeper compared to the outer rim. This concave shape has a visually appealing effect, almost as if the rim had a positive offset.
ABE, wheel assembly and instructions for mounting the MK II rim
The SIP safety standard for the development of new rim types includes load tests and official approval by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). Of course, our MK II rim also complies with the latest guidelines. Successful testing according to German standards (StVZO) resulted in recognition by the KBA in the form of a general operating permit (ABE) for use as a front wheel. But SIP has also tested further and ensured that the rim also meets the requirements of other international standards, such as those of Japan, as a rear wheel. Our pre-mounted wheel assemblies with SIP PERFORMANCE tyres offer complete comfort and user-friendliness. They are optionally available with tyres of width 120 and 130.
The MK II rim can be mounted both front and rear. Theoretically, all tyres up to a width of 140 fit. For mounting the rim as a rear wheel, this bush is required. Vehicles with ABS and tone wheel for the ABS sensor can be converted with the SIP mounting kit. Vehicles with ABS must be calibrated after a tyre change; please refer to the vehicle operating instructions.
The rim is approved for the following tyre sizes: 120/70-12 or optionally 130/70-12.
Note: Changing the tyre size slightly changes the transmission ratio of the vehicle, which ultimately also leads to a deviation on the speedometer display. The difference between 120/70-12 and 130/70-12 is about 3 %, which is within the permissible tolerance. With the SIP speedometers/rev counters, the gear ratio can be adjusted to the exact wheel circumference.
Conclusion: An update not only for the visual appearance, but also for the driving dynamics of all modern Vespas with 12-inch wheels, especially the GTS.
